Facing 12 Years in Florida Abortion Graffiti + Anti-Fascist March in Bulgaria
This week, we’re sharing two portions.
Transcript of SFLARC
PDF (Unimposed) - pending
Zine (Imposed PDF) - pending
South Florida Anti-Repression Committee
[00:05:37 - 00:54:07]
First up, a chat with two members of the South Florida Anti-Repression Committee doing solidarity for the 4 queer activists facing up to 12 years in Federal prison on charges related to graffiti at a Pregnancy Crisis Center, aka a building funded by church and state to dissuade people from getting abortions. The Department of Justice is charging them under the FACE Act, a criminal law passed in the 1990’s to stop threats, violence and blockades against health clinics that offered like abortions, screenings, contraception and other services under attack by religious extremists in the USA. There are also Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation, known also as a SLAPP suits being brought by a Miami-based Christian anti-abortion Crisis Pregnancy Center called Heartbeat of Miami as well as the state of Florida against the accused apparently intended to have a chilling effect and minimize their ability to defend themselves against the Federal indictments. Oso and Hunter of SFLARC talk about the arrests, about the defendants and the rising tide of gender fascism and war on bodily autonomy in DeSantis’ Florida and around the country.

The Kiril Petkov-Assen Vassilev We Continue the Change (WCC) and the Democratic Bulgaria coalition have issued a joint call to Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandukova not to allow the Lukov March, a torchlight procession in honour of a pro-Nazi leader in Bulgaria at the time of the Second World War.
In spite of years of campaigning, court battles and mayoral bans, the event will be held for the 20th time, on February 25 2023. This date is later than customary in past years, when the march was held on the Saturday closest to the anniversary of Lukov’s assassination on February 13 1943. The event involves young people misled to believe that Lukov was a “patriotic hero”, and attracts neo-Nazis from elsewhere in Europe and other parts of the world.
WCC and Democratic Bulgaria said that they were categorically opposed to the planned holding of the Lukov March, and any other form of neo-Nazism and pro-fascism in Bulgaria.
“We condemn any attempt to hold events that threaten social peace, the dignity of Bulgarian citizens and common human values,” they said. “We call on the Metropolitan municipality and the capital’s mayor, Mrs. Yordanka Fandukova, not to allow a march in defence of ideologies rejected by history and law, which led to some of the darkest years in all of European history.” The democratic present and future of Bulgaria excludes such manifestations of xenophobia and hate speech, WCC and Democratic Bulgaria said. “Provocations to violence, propaganda of racism, antisemitism, homophobia and sexism have no place in Bulgarian society,” they said.
A few days earlier, the planned 2023 Lukov March also was condemned by the Bulgarian Socialist Party.
#nunyas news#lets see if antifa gets violent or not#organized group would likely beat the shit#of antifa types#at least the us version#Slavic regions are a different story#considering they understand fascism and communism from personal experience

March TBR.
So I decided to go ahead and use March as my “catch up” month like I mentioned in my post about the Sequel-a-thon. I have so many books that I’ve gotten distracted from and stopped in th middle of that I figure focusing on finshing some wouldn’t be a bad idea.
I also figure it works well while doing a readathon since most of these books are already started, although I haven’t gotten as far into all of them.
I do have more books that I could add if I finish these ones, but, between this and my Sequel-a-thon I didn’t want to overload either.
Also, just for funsies, I added a bit below showing how far I’m into each of these books.
Woven in Moonlight - 65% I could probably finish this without trouble if I’m honest. The main reason I’m not is a combination of already kind of seeing where this is going (thoguh, of course I could be surprised!) as well as not really wanting to finish it. Still, I think this is the one I’m the furthest through and I really want to finish it.
The Scorpio Races - ~17% I’m listening to this on audiobook and I’m mostly listening to that when I’m at work and I’m not 100% into audiobooks yet so it could take me awhile to finish it. Especially since I’m also listening to King of Attolia at the same time. I do own the physical copy of this as well, so maybe I’ll pick that up when I’m home if I’m not feeling like listening to anything.
From Lukov With Love - 46% This is my palate cleanser/bus read and probably the book on this list that I’m the most relaxed about getting around to. I do really enjoy it, I just also enjoy picking it up whenever I need a break from what I’m currently reading as well.
Echoes Between Us - 20% Technically this should probably be Say You’ll Remember Me instead since I haven’t finished that one yet but... This one spoke to me more so here we are. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this one yet. I’m not feeling it, but I’m also not hating it if that makes sense? So yeah. We’ll see. I have liked so many other of Katie McGarry’s books and I really want to like this, but yeah. Not sure yet.
Followers - 5% This is probably the one I’ve read the least of so far. It’s here partly because I did stop for a bit, and partly because I just really want to sit down and read it because I am truly enjoying it. And either way, this is my dumb little challenge for myself so I’ll change the rules if I want to!
So yeah, that’s my current TBR picks for March. I might dump or pick up some other ones depending on how I fare. I have about 25-30 books that I need to finish or decide if I’m dnf’ing so I’m not really lacking in choice!
That said, if it feels tedious or I don’t want to read anything, I am allowed to choose some other books instead.

February 16 - Протест "Без нацисти по улиците ни!"/No Nazis on our streets!
16 years after the first Lukovmarsh, Sofia has become the capital, where: 1. a nationalistic government with a nationalistic opposition is in power 2. where far-right leaders such as Marine Le Pen are warmly welcomed 3. where swastikas are present on almost any building and last but not least 4. where every year some far-right terrorist groups (according to reports from the National Security Service and the local police) from Bulgaria and abroad commemorate with torches an anti-Semitic general Do we need more to say “No Nazis on our streets”? If beatings and murders of every person with a different ethnicity, sexual orientation and even gender do not make you feel “patriotic”... If you do not find hate speech against every person, who is not “Bulgarian enough” tolerable... If you do not want Sofia to become again a neo-Nazi capital this year… Your place is among us! February 16th, 2019, Central Mineral Baths, 14.00 h

tw homophobia
you know, since sofia pride is next week, some questions are slowly beginning to form in my head
1) will there be an anti-pride parade this year too?
2) will there be MORE than ONE anti-pride parade this year too? (despite the fact that there is only one pride)
3) how do anti-pride parades even form?????
i searched everywhere for the last one. facebook, the lukovmarch website, any website that i know of that’s hosted by the groups supporting lukov march. in short - every nazi or just generally far right website i could find.
and the answer is - none
yet they will still probably gather, proudly screaming for the rights of “kids”, burning EU flags. Just last year the media boasted how the youngest member of an anti-gay parade is ... wait for it... a 3-month-old infant. You can’t have such a thing without some previous arrangements
The question is....how tf do they organize???
and even more so....
HOW TF IS AN ANTI-GAY PARADE LEGAL IN THE EUROPEAN UNION?!

Bulgaria prevents annual neo-Nazi march
Via European Jewish Press:
The annual torch-lit Lukov march is named after Bulgarian Gen. Hristo Lukov, founder of the pro-Nazi Union of Bulgarian National Legions movement, which supported the deportation to Treblinka of more than 11,000 Jews
The Bulgarian government has prevented an annual neo-Nazi march in Sofia, the country’s capital. The march was to take place last weekend. The annual torch-lit Lukov march is named after Bulgarian Gen. Hristo Lukov, founder of the pro-Nazi Union of Bulgarian National Legions movement, which supported the deportation to Treblinka of more than 11,000 Jews from territories controlled by Bulgaria in Macedonia, northern Greece and eastern Serbia. Lukov was responsible for a Bulgarian law, based on the 1935 Nuremberg Laws in Germany, that stripped Jews of their civil rights. He was assassinated in 1943 by Communist partisans. The Lukov demonstration usually draws thousands of neo-Nazis and right-wing extremists. Bulgaria’s Supreme Administrative Court prohibited the march, ruling that the far-right demonstrators could only lay wreaths at Lukov’s home.

NEW YORK – As neo-Nazis and extremists prepare to gather in Sofia and elsewhere in Europe this weekend on the date of Adolf Hitler’s 130th birthday, the World Jewish Congress is calling on governments across the continent to condemn and oppose neo-Nazi movements. In addition to the conference of fascists who refer to themselves as European nationalists in Sofia, other planned events include meetings in various locations across France, a hiking trip and picnic in Ukraine, a rock concert in Italy and another two conventions in separate locations in Germany.
The WJC, under the leadership of President Ronald Lauder, has embarked on a widespread social media campaign to raise awareness about the proliferation of neo-Nazi gatherings across Europe, with an array of informational and visual content, calling on users everywhere to share employing the hashtags #NazisOut and #NazisRaus (a current anti-fascist slogan being used in Europe). The content will be posted on the World Jewish Congress’ Twitter page,www.twitter.com/worldjewishcong, throughout the weekend, highlighting the connection between pre-WWII era Nazi gatherings and contemporary neo-Nazi movements.
WJC CEO and Executive Vice President Robert Singer appealed directly to Bulgarian Interior Minister Mladen Marinov ahead the Bulgarian National Union’s three-day conference in Sofia, urging him to speak out against the extremist gathering. “Bulgaria should not be seen as a legitimate meeting place for those seeking to promote such hateful and destructive politics,” Singer wrote.
In his letter, Singer expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian government for the productive and warm relationship developed in recent years and noted that the WJC was deeply encouraged by the government’s efforts to combat antisemitism and promote tolerance in Bulgaria as part of its “long tradition of being a bastion of ethnic and cultural diversity and tolerance.”.
That said, Singer wrote, “we are strongly opposed to the pan-European neo-Nazi conference scheduled to take place under the auspices of an extremist Bulgarian political movement. We urge you do to strongly denounce this event, as well as to do all in your power to prevent this odious meeting from occurring, in keeping with the Bulgarian values of tolerance. The spirit of this conference is part and parcel with the inciting and violent nature of the annual [neo-Nazi] Lukov march and should be met with the same condemnation and denunciation.”

Summer is here! What are you all up to these days?
Are you lying on the beach, sipping some cool drink with a fancy name and enjoying the sun? Or sitting on a long monotonous flight to your holiday destination? Or perhaps you’re chilling in the park after work?
And is there something missing in all those scenarios?
Why, a good book, of course!
So here’s a list of some of our favourite books; ones that we love coming back to again and again and ones that we might’ve read only once so far but already know we’ll be rereading them in the future :) And since summer is a perfect time to read something new as well, you’ll also find some upcoming releases that we’re excited about here.
Happy reading!
UPCOMING, NEW AND NEWISH RELEASES
The Chase by Elle Kennedy (expected publication date : August 6th) - not only Fitzy was shook by Summer’s appearance in The Score, we were too! Now we cannot wait for their story and with our love of Off Campus series, our expectations for this book to end up being the hottest read of the summer are pretty damn high.
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare (expected publication date : August 28th) - the first book in Girl Meets Duke series, “The Duchess Deal”, was an absolute delight to read and we’re hoping this one will continue that happy hot streak.
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (expected publication date : July 10th) - a good retelling by one of our favoruite authors sounds like a must-read and must-read it is.
Hot Asset by Lauren Layne (published : May 22nd) - the first book in Lauren Layne’s newest series, 21 Wall Street, has it all - steamy romance, great cast of characters, some crime and mystery and last but not least, hot brokers in suits.
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning (expected publication date : July 31st) - MERMAIDS. Enough said.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (published : June 5th) - we fell in love with this book and we’re sure many of you will too! It’s funny, it’s warm, it’s sexy and Stella and Michael are definitely our faves this summer <3
I Think I Love You by Lauren Layne (expected publication date : July 10th) - the last book in Oxford series and we’re definitely curious about it. We love us some fake dating and friends to lovers trope xD
Pride by Ibi Zoboi (expected publication date : September 18th) - contemporary Pride and Prejudice retelling? WE. ARE. SO. IN.
Jock Row by Sara Ney (published : May 3rd) - in our minds, you can’t go wrong with some steamy sports romance for a summer read and this one is just so freaking cute!
Mirage by Somaiya Daud (expected publication date : August 28th) - YA fantasy with Moroccan-inspired setting and the summary sounds oh-so-intriguing. Is this the next series we will get obsessed with? Seems probable!
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (published : March 6th) - bloodthirsty mermaids? Check. Ruggedly handsome pirates? Check. Enemies to friends to lovers trope? CHECK, CHECK AND CHECK, GO READ THIS BOOK NOW.
The Naked Truth by Vi Keeland (expected publication date : July 23rd) - most of us on this blog have a “hit and miss” experience with Vi Keeland’s books but this one seems like a perfectly balanced hot meal of romance and angst, so we’re here, ready for it xD
FAVES WE LOVE COMING BACK TO
The Score by Elle Kennedy - again, you just can’t go wrong with sports romance for some summer reading and Allie and Dean will surely knock your socks off. WE LOVE THIS STORY!
Addicted series by Krista & Becca Ritchie - it won’t come as a surprise, surely, that this is one of our most beloved series. In fact, we’re planning on rereading it sometime in August! So...anyone else ready to go through ten books full of love, friendship, heartache, pain and utter bliss? Join us and fall in love with Lily, Rose, Daisy, Lo, Connor and Ryke just like we did!
Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne - one of our favs by Lauren Layne, it’s SO CUTE and FUNNY and will make you feel good!
Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman - at first sight, this is a story of summer romance set in Italy - which makes it perfect for summer reading list - but in reality, it’s. So. Much. More. And it might very well break your heart but it’s worth it.
Foolish Kingdoms series by Natalia Jaster - creators of this blog have declared themselves crazy for Natalia Jaster’s writing - and it all started with the first book in this series, “Trick”. Fantasy setting, poetic prose and entertaining layered characters - what more could one wish for?
All for the Game by Nora Sakavic - this series is by no means a “light” summer read but we still love it so much and can’t help rereading it again and again. The Foxes have claimed our hearts and refuse to let go, just as we do.
Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas - how can one pass summer without reading at least one steamy historical romance, right? And this one doesn’t disappoint! With a charming and refreshing heroine and a dashing hero who becomes her biggest fanboy in a matter of a few chapters, it’s a real treat :)
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon - young love at the summer program for aspiring web developers with romance and cuteness overload, are you in or are you in???
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover - friends-slash-neighbours with benefits arrangement meets Feelings. Rules are broken. Complications ensue. Read it *whispers SUBTLY*
Tell Me Three Things by Julia Buxbaum - perhaps a book set in high school doesn’t exactly scream “summer” but this is one of our favourite YA contemporaries. There’s just something about the way this book makes you feel...we just cannot recommend it enough!
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata - sure, this is a sports romance revolving around figure skating which happens to involve lots of ice but rest assured, the chemistry between Jasmine and Ivan will leave you in need of ice for cooling down purposes.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black - granted, we’ve read it only months ago, but this one has us absolutely obsessed. And you could be too, just dare to venture into the mysterious and deadly world of faeries - just remember to guard your mortal heart.
Everless by Sara Holland - YA fantasy with an usual concept of time as currency - it keeps you on the edge of chair as you read it. If anyone feels like reading some quality fantasy this summer, go for it!
Married by Morning Lisa Kleypas - favourite one from The Hathaways series! Catherine and Leo just own our hearts <3 This book will make you laugh and (maybe) cry and (surely) fan your heated face (because the hotness levels? Phew🔥
The Foxe and the Hound by R.S. Grey - this is such a make-you-feel-good book and the main character, Madeleine, couldn’t be more relatable. She’s in her mid/late-twenties and - plot twist - doesn’t have it all figured out yet. Luckily, not all hope is lost yet xD
Forbidden Hearts series you by Alisha Rai - it saddens us greatly how underappreciated Alisha Rai’s writing is. She writes compelling diverse characters and her smut is the ultimate proof that Consent Is Sexy. Join us in fangirling!
